Vince Citrano – mechanic

Vince joined Bill McGrath in May 2011 after ten years at Maserati main dealer H R Owen. He brings with him great experience on the modern range of Maserati cars but also an enthusiasm for all things Italian, not surprising as he is from Sicily! He joins us as a modern car mechanic but is also versatile enough to work on old cars and is our only fluent Italian speaker. He says that he already feels as though he fits in because we all have the same ‘car’ interests. Vince has a very nice Integrale and also a ‘track day’ Lancia Dedra – so he will fit in nicely!

Andy Heywood – Managing Director

Andy Heywood trained as a car restorer and mechanic to City and Guilds level on the famous Colchester Institute restoration course. Following completion of the course, he helped out in the initial set up of a Jaguar restoration company in Switzerland before taking up a job with Bill McGrath in 1988. Initially employed as a restorer, he took over the day to day running of the company in 1990 and has owned it since 2004. Andy has been on the Committee of the UK Maserati Club for the last 13 years, during which time he has edited not only the club Newsletter but also the Trident magazine. He is also a veteran writer for Auto Italia magazine, having contributed numerous articles over the years on Maserati and the other Italian marques.

Duncan Berry – Foreman

After doing a seven-year stretch at a well-known Hertfordshire Alfa Romeo specialist, Duncan joined Bill McGrath in 2005. He said he needed more of a challenge and he got one. An intuitive engineer, Duncan has a solution to every engineering problem. During his time here, he has also branched out working on a few Lamborghinis but he mainly carries out restoration and repair work on the classic Maseratis.
Duncan’s extended skill set, acquired from his previous role, also made him an ideal choice for workshop foreman. His ability to keep things moving smoothly when Maseratis reach their most frustrating is excellent!

Alan Piggott – Mechanic

A stalwart of the workshop, Alan is a mine of information (if only he could remember it!). Having worked at Bill McGrath since 1989 there is nothing Alan can’t turn his expert hands to. Alan trained in a Fiat dealership in the 70’s before moving to lecturing in motor vehicle technology. He came to work at Bill McGrath to avoid the mounting beaurocracy in teaching. Alan now specialises in engine building, construction of wiring looms and pure restoration, which is perfectly suited to his fastidious nature.

Paul Molyneux – Mechanic

Paul joined Bill McGrath Maserati in 1990 after spending a year working with rally cars. He immediately found his calling with the Biturbo range of cars and is no doubt the most knowledgeable and certainly the most enthusiastic Biturbo mechanic in the country. He is now restoring cars on which he originally carried out the first service! In recent years, Paul has been on training courses and is now fast making a name for himself with the 3200 and 4200 range of cars.

Brian Bunker – Mechanic

Brian started with Bill McGrath Limited in 1986 following twelve years in a village garage working on anything that was vaguely mechanical. After a short break working with computers in the IT industry, an invitation from Andy Heywood to return to Bill McGrath Limited was accepted and Brian began his second stint with the company in 2000. A talented engineer, Brian’s varied background means that he can turn his hand to any aspect of the classic car work. His speciality however, is tuning Weber carburettors.

Nick Bowden – Mechanic

Our lad from the West Country, Nick moved north and joined Bill McGrath Limited in 2004 after working for Citroen for seven years. He was born into a ‘Maserati’ family, his Dad owns a Biturbo SI, and therefore it was only natural that he came to work on this ‘exotic’ marque. Over the years he has become something of an expert in the classic cars, whether it be maintenance, engine building or even restoration. Nick is also a complete enthusiast who can be seen at a car show or race day somewhere most weekends.

John Gibbins – Mechanic

John has always had an interest in classic cars and motorbikes. From a young age he was often found to be stripping parts and this has stayed with him. After fourteen years working for a local modern garage as a stores man and MOT tester, John joined Bill McGrath Limited as a restorer. Quietly industrious, John is our ‘back room boy’, but his work on our restoration projects is a part of what makes them great.

Chris McNabb – Parts Manager

Following Adrian Buntings retirement in 2006, we appointed Chris as our new Parts Manager. He was well versed with the eccentricities of Maserati cars having owned and worked with Citroen SM’s for many years and has increased his knowledge exponentially since his arrival. Under his control our parts department has doubled in size. Constantly buying and selling, Chris is responsible for most of our old stock acquisitions but always has time for a chat with his regulars.

Shaun Summerbee – Parts technician

Shaun joined Bill McGrath Limited in 2006 straight from school to fulfil the need for a second parts person. He brought huge enthusiasm with him and seems to have soaked up the entire back catalogue of Maserati parts books since his arrival. Dynamic and competent, Shaun is responsible for parts ordering and also liaising with the workshop on parts and services.

Claire Prior – Office Manager

Having moved from Surrey to Bedfordshire, a chance meeting with Andy Heywood at an Italian Car Show resulted in a job offer. Claire has a strong administrative background having worked for a well known motorbike dealership, a major airline and most recently a leading Mortgage and Insurance packaging company. Claire rules the office and the booking diary with ruthless efficiency and deals with all car movements. But she is always the friendly voice on the end of the phone!

William Speight – Valeter

The latest addition to our team is Will, who takes care of valeting and general workshop support services (that’s right, he makes the tea!). In the few months Will has been here, he has become a demon with a polishing cloth and we hope he will go on to great things.
